Sometimes there is nothing better than listening to the Great Rock n’ Roll from the 70’s and 80’s. And it’s hard to think about this period and not remember the fantastic Debut Album from Boston. Perhaps most famous for More Than A Feeling, this album also produced some other amazing tracks, like Smokin’. Originally released as the B-Side to More Than A Feeling, this song has become a staple on classic rock radio, and even made an appearance on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on the fictional radio station K-DST. This video is from a live performance in 2008, a year after the untimely death of front-man Brad Delp. Boston show they are still rocking on in the memory of a Rock Hero.

Swervedriver - Never Lose That Feeling

Today is the 1^st May, that means May Day!!! If you happen to be in and around Oxford this week, you’ll know that it means clubs staying open through the night, Spire Top Performances from Choirs and some unlikely restaurants opening up for breakfast at 7am. Trust me, it’s a fantastic experience, try and get yourself there and experience it. In light of this, we thought you should hear some good Oxford based music from Swervedriver. They didn’t make as much of a splash as Radiohead or Supergrass did, but they had some pretty decent tracks. Here is the official video for Never Lose That Feeling, a great track, fitting of the musical genius Oxford has given us.

80 years ago today, Country Music legend Willie Nelson was born in Texas USA. Since that day, he has created over sixty studio albums, 10 live albums almost 40 compilations, as well as acting in both TV and Film and has co-authored many books along with his own autobiography. Through the years, Willie has brought us some outstanding music, and has become synonymous with Country Music during the Twentieth Century. Please join us in wishing him a Happy Birthday, and fingers crossed he’ll still be recording in the years to come. For Willie’s birthday treat, we have Altered Images’ rendition of Happy Birthday. Just this week, Kenny Chesney has released his latest album, Life On A Rock, his 14^th studio album to date. We are aware Country Music doesn’t have enough air time here in the UK, so we thought the best way to introduce you to it, would be through the song that would “blend of country instrumentation and anthemic pop that became his signature and made him a star”.

The Tin Man is a fantastic song, and the forward by a young looking Kenny Chesney will have you falling head over heels for country. We are very sure that this song will change your perspective on country music, and will have your wearing a Stetson in no time at all.

With less than a month until the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, i’m sure that we aren’t the only ones planning a Eurovision party. What could be more exciting than listening to a mix of overly ‘Poppy’ songs in a mixture of languages i do not comprehend? In light of this, we thought it would be appropriate to exhibit the talents of the entry from the UK, Bonnie Tyler. Bonnie has been wowing audiences the world over for years, and here level of performance hasn’t dropped, just check out her rendition of Total Eclipse of the Heart only 2 years ago on live German TV. We can’t wait for May 18^th, here’s hoping Bonnie can bring it home for the UK!!!

So, Britain’s Got Talent is returning to your telly-boxes soon enough, and it begs the question ‘What has Simon Cowell Been Up to?’ Unless you’ve been watching the X-Factor USA, it’s likely you haven’t heard the sound of Tate Stevens, which is a shame. This week we see the release of his first Major Label Album following his victory of the show. And we though you should see at least one of his show-stopping performances before passing judgement. I’m quite sure you’ll enjoy and be amazed by the way he clearly steals the show. His rendition of Keith Urban’s Love Somebody Like You is exceptional, no wonder he ended up winning the thing!!

Did you know that later this month Willie Nelson will turn 80 years old? It’s even more incredible to think that he is the youngest member of his band! Surly this proves that the older generation have still got it. Willie has been making classic Country Music for years now, and his new album, Let’s Face The Music And Dance, stands testament to his enduring musical prowess.

For your pleasure and enjoyment today, we have Willie’s first hit in the UK. It charted at number 49 back in 1982, it only took 20 years to get recognised in the UK! Always On My Mind is forever a classic track, and a bit of a tearjerker, and this performance at the Opry Hotel in 1989 is a fantastic example of Willie Nelson at his best.

Having thoroughly enjoyed the Big Reunion these past few weeks, its hard not to feel somewhat nostalgic about the glorious 1990’s, and the incredible Pop Music that came from it. Today’s Press Rewind is a fantastic example of Brit-Pop, and a modern day guilty pleasure. I assure you, when this song comes on in the club, everyone is throwing some shapes.

Dancing In The Moonlight was Toploader’s biggest hit, and went on to feature in the Sainbury’s TV ad. Following the recent release of the Glastonbury 2013 festival line-up, we’ve been reviewing our favourite performances. And this Brit-pop cult classic ranks up there, somewhere near Jay-Z performing Wonderwall.

These past few weeks we’ve been busy with our Spotify Playlists, Facebook Page and Twitter account, check em out and subscribe! Recently we attended the Country2Country music festival at the O2 Greenwich, and enjoyed some stellar performances from Carrie Underwood.

Out this week is Brad Paisley’s new album Wheelhouse, so we decided to bring you one of his absolute classics. Celebrating the Physical release of the latest Jimi Hendrix Album, People, Hell & Angels, we’ve opened up a Pop-Up Store in 8 Ganton Street, London (just off of Carnaby Street). It’s full of wonderful merch, some you can’t get anywhere else, the entire Jimi Hendrix catalogue and even features a Fender plug and play area in the basement!!! Aren’t we good to you! The store closes this week on the 12th April, so we thought it was time for a reminder of how incredible Jimi was.

Here is Voodoo Child live from the Royal Albert Hall, arguable one of his best songs ever taken from an incredible London gig. Apologies for the Hippie-esque visual effects layered on the video while Jimi is laying down his epic Guitar Solo Powers, but it wouldn’t be Hendrix without it. Joe Satriani says the opening riff is one of his favourite Jimi riffs of all time, and you can see him speaking and playing here.

You’ve probably watched many videos of Jefferson Airplane performing live before, but you need to watch this.

This video of Grace Slick performing White Rabbit is perfection and well worth a watch. We’ve had it on repeat all afternoon, it’s that brilliant.

So, go on, treat yourself to this live performance of the band’s classic track, as performed live at none other than Woodstock, on 17th August 1969.

Oh, and here’s a pretty cool photo of the band chilling out on stage, that makes us want to be part of their gang too…

We’re busy celebrating the upcoming re-release of Jamiroquai’s first 3 studio albums ,‘Emergency On Planet Earth’, ‘Return Of The Space Cowboy’ and ‘Travelling Without Moving’ - which have all been entirely remastered – and we have come across this video.

Take a look at this footage of a live performance of the band’s hit ‘Virtual Insanity’, filmed at the 1997 Free Jazz Festival in Brazil.

Altogether now, “Future’s made of, virtual insanity…” We’ll let you finish off the rest.

We thought we’d treat you to an Elvis Presley sketch and performance today. Well, afterall this week does mark the 78th anniversary of the birth of the man himself.

This rare clip is taken from the Milton Berle Show, recorded on 5th June 1956 and it sees Elvis take part in a short sketch with the show’s host, before treating the audience to a stunning performance of ‘I Want You I Need You I Love You’.

Towards the end of the clip, Milton presents The King with a Billboard ‘Triple Crown’ award for ‘Heartbreak Hotel’.

Here’s a pretty awesome song that we wanted to share with your lovely-selves, to welcome you into 2013…

Written by Gus Kahn and Walter Donaldson and recorded in 1925 by Gene Austin, ‘Yes Sir, That’s My Baby’ was very popular in The Charleston era.

Here’s a little more information about the song (that promises to get you Lindy-Hopping down the street) thanks to the folk over at wikilindy.wordpress.com:

“The song was inspired by a pig, but not a real one. The composers were visiting Eddie Cantor one afternoon when Cantor’s daughter Marjorie brought out one of her favorite toys, a walking mechanical pig. She wound it up and it started walking in rhythm while 2 notes kept coming from the little creature. Kahn was inspired and started working lyrics to these notes in rhythm with the pig, coming up with the title and opening line of the chorus in short order. Cantor turned it into a hit. Years later, Kahn commented that his take from the song constituted the largest amount of money a Jewish man had ever made from a pig.”
